Cumberland Island lies off the coast of southern Georgia. The ruins found on the southern tip of the island are known as Dungeness. Dungeness was built by Thomas Carnegie and his wife Lucy In 1884. The Carnegie Dungeness burned in the 1950s. Today, wild horses and other island wildlife roam freely throughout the ruins and along the beach.
